About Sarah

Sarah H. Heath (they/them/their) is a twenty-six year-old freelance artist, singer/songwriter, and musician living in southern Maine. They graduated from Maine College of Art (now Maine College of Art and Design) in 2020 with a BFA in Digital Media and a minor in Music. They currently work as an administrative assistant and graphic design collaborator for Jacqui's Music Studio located in Cumberland, Maine. They are proudly autistic and agender.

ART

Sarah's visual art background began when they were in middle school. They were fascinated by animation, character design, and graphic design. This led to them studying Digital Media during their time at MECA. They are heavily inspired by Jamie Hewlett, the artist behind the Gorillaz, Ciro Nieli, the visionary behind the 2012 animated reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Ken Sugimori, the main illustrator and designer behind Pokémon. Sarah enjoys doing both traditional and digital art. If they are on their computer, chances are that Sarah is working on artwork in Photoshop! They are currently hard at work on a series of paintings that show secret images when light is shone through the backs of them. All of these works can be viewed here!

MUSIC

Sarah was born with perfect pitch and has always had a passion for singing and music. Much of their taste in music came from their parents, who are both huge fans of the Beatles. In fact, Sarah's middle name is Harrison. Besides the Fab Four which has influenced all of their music, some of their vocal role models include Janelle Monáe, Weyes Blood, Ann Wilson, and Whitney Houston, and some of their other biggest musical influences include Green Day, Radiohead, Gorillaz, U2, Fleet Foxes, Beastie Boys, Arcade Fire, Barenaked Ladies, and Todd Rundgren, among countless others. They began seriously songwriting when they were around 18 or 19 (because none of their stuff from before then was any good...) and have sung in their church choir for many years. They can be heard singing in the Senior Choir at First Parish Congregational Church in Saco, Maine, or performing with friends at the Night of Talent events put on by WandA Entertainment, also at First Parish Saco. Alternately they can also be heard singing at the top of their voice in their car!
